Synopsis
Shirō Emiya perdió a su familia hace diez años en un enorme incendio que consumió gran parte de la ciudad de Fuyuki. Atrapado entre las llamas, se da por vencido y acepta su propia muerte, pero un enigmático hombre lo encuentra y lo ayuda. Este hombre, Kiritsugu Emiya, lo adopta y le revela su identidad como mago. Kiritsugu también le cuenta a Shirō su sueño fallido de ser un héroe justiciero. Por petición del niño, Kiritsugu intenta enseñarle magia, pero Shirō encuentra dificultad incluso en los hechizos fundamentales. Por eso, después de la muerte de Kiritsugu, Shirō se encuentra terriblemente frustrado, sintiéndose incapaz de cumplir los designios de su padre con la justicia.
